An area code (also called a city code, regional code, or trunk code depending on the country) is the prefix that identifies a specific city or region within a country's phone system. After dialing the country code, you dial the area code, then the local number. Some countries (US, Canada, Australia) use short 1-3 digit area codes; others (UK, India, Russia) mix short codes for major cities with longer codes for smaller regions; and a few (mobile-first countries like Saudi Arabia) barely use them at all.
DialCode tracks city and area codes for the most-searched countries - Manila is +63 2, London is +44 20, Tokyo is +81 3, Mumbai is +91 22, Mexico City is +52 55, and so on. Important: when calling from abroad, drop the leading 0 (trunk prefix) from the area code. For example, London is "020 1234 5678" inside the UK but "+44 20 1234 5678" from anywhere else.
